School, District and Provincial Awards

Honors with Distinction - a minimum of 10 credits in core subjects at student's grade level or higher. Marks in each of the selected courses must be 85% or higher.
Honors - a minimum of 10 credits must be in core subjects at student's grade level or higher. The average of selected courses must be 80% or higher. No mark less than 50% can be used in determining this average.
Merit - an average between 75% and 79.9%. No mark less than 50% can be used in determining this average.

J. Percy Page Award ($1000) - Awarded to a Grade 12 student who exemplifies the ideals of the school, who volunteers for extracurricular activities, who is an honors student, and who relates well with staff and peers.  APPLICATION FORM

Page Pride Award ($750) - Recognizes the most outstanding student in grade 11 who has achieved honors with distinction or honors standing and has distinguished accomplishments in at least two extracurricular areas.  APPLICATION FORM

J Percy Page Leadership Award (2 x $250) - Recognizes a student in each of Grade 10 and Grade 11 who has made an outstanding contribution through leadership to the betterment of the school. (Leadership Teacher Nomination) APPLICATION FORM

J. Percy Page Academic Development Award ($250) - Presented to the most improved student in grade 10 or 11. (Teacher Nomination)

RAP Plus (Registered Apprenticeship Program) Award (Received directly from Gov. of Alberta)
The award will consist of a Certificate of Achievement.
To qualify for the award the student must:
• complete the requirements for a high school diploma;
• demonstrate competence in the trade as judged by the employer;
• serve as an ambassador for the RAP Plus program;
• demonstrate a cooperative attitude with fellow students, teachers, employees and employers;
• continue in apprenticeship training at the post-secondary level.

EXTERNAL AWARDS

Edmonton Southeast Youth Leadership Award (plaque) - Awarded to a grade 12 student who exemplifies high academic achievement, extra-curricular involvement, and community leadership.  APPLICATION FORM

Premier's Citizenship Award (plaque) - Awarded to a grade 12 student who has supported and contributed to Alberta communities through public service and voluntary endeavours. (Princiapal's Nomination)

Dick Mather Scholarship ($500) - Awarded to a grade 12 student who demonstrates good citizenship by showing care and consideration for others through service to the school or community and who desires to obtain further education.  APPLICATION FORM

Merit Contractors Award ($300) - Recognizes a Construction 30 student who demonstrates excellence in Career and Technology Studies, and a desire to continue studies toward a Journeyman Certificate. (Construction 30 Teacher Nomination)

Rotary Club of Edmonton Gateway Scholarship ($750) - Awarded to a Grade 12 student who is an all round achiever, has shown leadership qualities by being involved in the life of the school and has provided service in the community.  APPLICATION FORM

Stratcona Rotary Club Scholarship ($1000 and certificate) - Awarded to a Grade 12 student who is all round achiever, has shown leadership qualities by being involved in the life of the school and has provided service in the community while overcoming personal challenges.  APPLICATION FORM

Stuart Olson Scholarship ($250) - Awarded to a CTS 30 level student who demonstrates a commitment to charity, community, or volunteer work with intentions to strengthen his/her knowledge in the area of career and technology studies.  APPLICATION FORM

Frank Tymko Scholarship ($1000) - Awarded to a grade 12 student with outstanding community, school service and academic achievement. This student must also be in need of financial assistance to pursue post-secondary studies.  APPLICATION FORM

Edmonton Mill Woods Lions Club Service Award ($500) - Awarded to a grade 12 student who performs volunteer/service work in the school and the community. The motto of the Lions' Club is "We Serve."  APPLICATION FORM

Norden Auto Haus - This award is presented by Norden Auto Haus to the most improved grade 11 student completing Mechanics 20, who demonstrates strength in theory, shop readiness, attitude, practical work and clean up. (Mechanics 20 teacher nomination.)

Page Gratitude Award ($250) - Awarded to a Grade 12 student who is entering his/her first year of Engineering in a recognized university in Alberta. Proof of volunteerism is required, as is honours standing in Grade 10, 11, and 12. Proof of parents or self born outside of Canada is also required. APPLICATION FORM

Kinsmen Scholarship ($1000) - One scholarship is awarded to a Grade 12 student in every Edmonton high school. Must provide proof of conditional acceptance at a recognized post secondary institution within 2 years of high school graduation. Must demonstrate a strong commitment to community service activities. Only adademic requirement is sufficient standing for acceptance to post secondary studies of choice. Emphasis is on out of school community service activities. Peter Elzinga Family Foundation ($600 - $2000 for 1 - 5 scholarships) - Based on financial need (students must submit parents' financial information). Candidates must be enrolled in post secondary institution by September 15 of the year of application.

DISTRICT AWARDS

Esther and Peter Cunliffe Scholarship ($1500) - Awarded to assist a graduate of an Edmonton Public School to attend a post secondary institution in Edmonton. Student must demonstrate excellent academics, outstanding leadership and personal characteristics, and financial need.  APPLICATION FORM   

Michael A. Strembitsky Award of Excellence
One J. Percy Page High School student will be nominated for this prestigious award and go on to compete with nominees from other Edmonton high schools. The J. Percy Page nominee will have achieved excellence in personal, social and academic endeavors.

GOVERNOR GENERAL'S ACADEMIC MEDAL

The Governor General' Academic Medal was first awarded in 1873 by Earl of Dufferin, and has since become one of the most prestigious awards that a student in a Canadian educational institution can receive. The Bronze medal for the secondary school level is awarded to the student in grade 12 who achieves the highest average upon graduation. The average includes all grade 11 and grade 12 courses as listed on the student's official transcript issued by the Ministry of Learning.

ATHLETIC AWARDS

The outstanding male and female athletes will be those two individuals who have accumulated the highest point total within that year, regardless of their accumulated point total. Outstanding male and female award presentations will be made at the J. Percy Page Awards evening.
Each coach shall, at the conclusion of their sport's season, evaluate each athlete in their program, based upon the following criteria:
a) improvement
b) performance and achievement
c) sportsmanship
d) relationship with team mates, coaches, officials
e) effort and contribution
f) leadership and cooperation
g) athletic citizenship and deportment
h) attitude and motivation

ALEXANDER RUTHERFORD SCHOLARSHIPS

Students may earn a maximum of $2,500 toward their post-secondary education if the eligibility criteria are met. Awards are as follows:

$300 (75% to 79.9%) or $400 (80% or higher) for Grade 10
$500 (75% to 79.9%) or $800 (80% or higher) for Grade 11
$700 (75% to 79.9%) or $1,300 (80% or higher) for Grade 12Awards & Scholarships
