The music department offers courses in Band, Guitar and Choral Music. Curricular topics include performance technique, theory, listening, aural training and history. Additionally, performances, extra-curricular ensembles, guest artists and clinicians supplement the instruction offering practical and concrete learning opportunities. Music General Music (Guitar)
Instrumental Music
Drama J. Percy Page offers a complete complement of Drama classes for students with a strong interest in and commitment to the dramatic arts. Extensive in-class performances/presentations are required in these courses. Drama 10
Drama 10 is an introductory course intended to develop confidence, concentration, creativity, and communication skills to enable the student to function within the theatre craft. By the end of the course, students will have studied the five required disciplines: Movement, Speech, Improvisation, Theatre Studies, and Technical Theatre. Drama 20
Drama 20 introduces the students to the theatrical disciplines of the playwright, actor, director, designer, and critic. It includes study of the context and craft of traditional theatrical expressions. Scene work form the various historical periods is studied. Drama 30
Drama 30 completes an analysis of the context, craft, type, and styles of theatrical productions and performance in plays/scenes from the early 1900's to the present. Extracurricular rehearsals, written assignments, and homework are a requirement at this level of the Drama program. Visual Arts Art 10
This course is a beginning exploration of the entire field of art and art making. The emphasis will be on acquiring the basic skills and understanding of what is required to be creative within a high school Art program. No prerequisite exists for this course; therefore, no experience or previous success at art is required. Art 20
This course expands the basic understanding of art methods mastered in Art 10. The emphasis in Art 20 is on students beginning to produce mature visual solutions to problems in expression. This will require an expansion of physical skills and the development of imaginative responses to problems. Art 30
Students are encouraged to become more specialized and independent in one or two areas of study. Self-directed and disciplined study is the aim at this level. Students are expected to produce a portfolio of work representative of their style and development.
Applied Graphic Arts 15
Applied Graphic Arts 15 introduces students to the visual design industry. Topics include photography, screenprinting, computer graphics and computer animation. Students will also develop their drawing and painting techniques.
