The spread of easy and accessible information has made the role of the library even more important to modern students. We remain, of course, a source of good books for students to read and enjoy. However, much of what libraries have traditionally done has changed in the last 15 years. First and foremost, the library is no longer the sole storehouse and repository of information for the school. Today information is available in massive quantities from the Internet, and it is the role of the library to help students navigate the information that they find. As such the mission of the J. Percy Page is to do the following:
- encourage reading by students
- create competent, critical and ethical users of information
- foster lifelong learning
- develop engagement with '21st Century Literacies'
